Well spring is officially here and with it all the new spring styles. Here in Calgary we were lucky enough to have a taste of spring on the Equinox and it has inspired me to write a series of posts about this year’s spring makeup trends and how you can pull them off at home. In my opinion the best place to start is with a flawless skin look. The Nude, no makeup look is in. If you look at this picture that I borrowed from Harpers Bazar you can see it looks like the model is wearing almost no makeup. It is a lovely fresh look and you can do it at home. Here we have a Before picture for reference. The first place to start is by applying concealer over the problem areas. If you have red spots use a bit of green in your concealer to neutralize it. If you have dark circles under your eyes use orange to help even out blue circles and yellow to help tone down purple. After you are happy with your concealer it is time for foundation. I like to mix a bit of Illuminator into my foundation to get a bit of an all over glow. In this case I used Laura Mercies Illuminator and Glo minerals tinted moisturizer. Once your foundation is down it is always a good idea to powder on top. This will take away a bit of the dewy look but your foundation will last much longer and require less touch ups throughout the day. To get the glow back after powder I used a light bit of Smash Box blush on my cheeks and some Dior Illuminator powder on my cheek bones, jaw line and just above my eye brows. Last step is to apply eye shadow and lip colour. I used a very light touch of peach gloss on the lips. Eyes where finished off with a primer and then just a touch of shimmery peach shadow on the lid with a bit of a mat cream colour below the brow.
