Well spring is officially here and with it all the new spring styles. Here in Calgary we were lucky enough to have a taste of spring on the Equinox and it has inspired me to write a series of posts about this year’s spring makeup trends and how you can pull them off at home. In my opinion the best place to start is with a flawless skin look. The Nude, no makeup look is in. If you look at this picture that I borrowed from Harpers Bazar you can see it looks like the model is wearing almost no makeup. It is a lovely fresh look and you can do it at home. Here we have a Before picture for reference. The first place to start is by applying concealer over the problem areas. If you have red spots use a bit of green in your concealer to neutralize it. If you have dark circles under your eyes use orange to help even out blue circles and yellow to help tone down purple. After you are happy with your concealer it is time for foundation. I like to mix a bit of Illuminator into my foundation to get a bit of an all over glow. In this case I used Laura Mercies Illuminator and Glo minerals tinted moisturizer. Once your foundation is down it is always a good idea to powder on top. This will take away a bit of the dewy look but your foundation will last much longer and require less touch ups throughout the day. To get the glow back after powder I used a light bit of Smash Box blush on my cheeks and some Dior Illuminator powder on my cheek bones, jaw line and just above my eye brows. Last step is to apply eye shadow and lip colour. I used a very light touch of peach gloss on the lips. Eyes where finished off with a primer and then just a touch of shimmery peach shadow on the lid with a bit of a mat cream colour below the brow.

Hey. So I know it is the end of St Patricks day but I thought I would show the green makeup I had on today and one other look I did a few days ago. The first one is from a few days ago and is a green gold combination. This look was done cut crease style with gold in the inner corners of the eye fading to green in the outer corners. A dark brown sparkly colour was put over eyeliner for the crease to help blend the sharp line at the top towards the eye brow. The look was finished off with some blush and a darker red lip. Today's look was inspired by my new sugarpill eye shadows. Endeavoring to use as many as possible I started with white in the center blending to yellow and then green. With a dark brown in the crease to mellow out the bright colours this look is striking but still easy to wear anywhere. I finished this one off with a more peach coloured lip not wanting to have the lips too bright so they compete with the dramatic eye makeup. I hope everybody had a fantastic St Patrick's day complete with green beer and green makeup
Hey all! I have been working a bit recently on playing with eye makeup. Doing different colours of smokey eye. In response to my new pink and purple hair I did a pink and black smokey eye. I like the look with a splash of bright colour to really spice up a traditional smokey eye. It brings something bright and unique to a look that can become to dark for some people. The second look I have for you today is a dark brown sparkley smokey eye. The great thing about adding the glitter to the outer edge of your smokey eye is you get this wonderful sparkely effect around your eye when it is open. This is something that can be lost when you use glitter on the lid or just in the lash line. This creates a nice dramatic dark look with some eye catching sparkle to get your attention. Finally I offer you a picture of both colours and a red lip to finish it off A few months ago I cast a lovely woman's head and made a plaster copy of it. since then I have spent a lot of time cleaning up the mold and putting clay on it. I am almost done and this is just a little teaser of me working on it. check back to see the finished product. The theme of the project is a cherry tree elf creature. I am very excited to get to the finished product and I hope you will stop by to see it when it is done. |
